Wiseguy

in the rear view mirror...i look one thousand times a day
remembering where i've been
remembering who i've seen
oblivious to the obscene
your nightmare is my dream
still i hear the victims of my crimes...like sirens they scream
always later and never goodbye...i'm a wiseguy

stalked in the night by a black cadillac
i shoot out the tires and the driver... but it always comes back
i'm taking prozac as devils and demons ruthlessly attack
still i took an oath and made a vow...no turning back
mountains of money like sky high smoke stacks
still dollars and diamonds can't keep me alive
always later and never goodbye...i'm a wiseguy

the fortress is falling...my friends are all foes
silver and gold turns to graveyards and bones
no witness protection like those roaches and rats...darkness in the trunk of that black cadillac
jewels turn to junkyards...seven and seven, coicaine cuties,in lounges and bars
dumped in a river that runs like rage...shooting star burning too bright
always and forever into that cold black night...rest in peace... i'm a wiseguy

Places any reader into a dark, forbidden vicarious experience. You have described the life of an underworld figure quite well with your words and rhyme.

I liked your poem, but I was wondering if you meant to write "bye" instead of "buy"? The "buy" doesn't seem right.

Hi anthony: Quite a powerful poem. I really like the line "the fortress is falling...my friends are all foes". Have a good day. Sheol
