Inspired by the movie THE YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY

Philosopher, Lover of Life, Wise One What I would give To see the world through your eyes To picture the haze of freedom Where there reigns injustice and chains To capture the shadow of dignity Where there thunders cries of hunger and pain To carry the veil of hope Where there lurks despair and death To paint a watercolour rainbow Where there is but sorrow and starvation Teach me to find meaning Where there dwells only desperation Teach me to see with your eyes AP: Honorable Mention 2020 Submitted on January 3, 2018 for contest BEST FREE VERSE OCT-DEC sponsored by JOHN HAMILTON - RANKED 3RD and on October 9, 2017 for contest MID OCTOBER STANDARD sponsored by BRIAN STRAND - RANKED 1ST

oh my . SO DEEP this one is. I keep wondering. Did I see that movie you mentioned? I just saw the movie about Stalin and your poem here makes me think of it because those poor people in Russia were suffering horribly under his reign. I need to look up the year of living dangerously! Wow, you got a first place with Brian!! Huge congrats to you.

Very deep and ponderous, and a piece to spin the wheels in the attic - loved it! Congrats on another win, my friend! :-) <3

not a film I have seen, but from the reading of your words all the things you have asked to see you already see, but like all of us who seek truth it is the understanding where we tend to get lost
