Winter Reality
Some people say it is a beautiful sight.
This is when the landscape is a wondrous white.
Overnight has brought a bountiful snowfall.
To many, this means fun and frolic for all.
We can make snowmen, and get out sleds and skis.
Just feel that cool and tingling winter breeze.
There is so much to do for each girl and boy.
They can go outdoors for some seasonal joy.
I am much older now, and I will give it to you straight.
This is one scenario I can easily hate.
Problems are caused by this meteorological quirk.
It can take three or more hours to commute to work.
Accidents are ubiquitous when the roads are slick.
Insurance claims adjusters can easily get sick.
Plane flights are cancelled and buses do not run.
As life carries on, this certainly is no fun.
The children are home when they close the school.
When they make a ruckus, it is not too cool.
It is up to me to shovel the snow away.
That is what I can expect on such a day.
