Yes, I think the moon would shiver if there were icicles. Thanks for sharing this one with us and for dropping by my page. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Sara K

You describe winter with perfect imagery which is vivid and illuminates from the page... the vision of a cold fire sunlight, which it is, is a brilliant and poetic description and a very good opening line an then the icicles show was a cold day it is and even the moon shivers.. I must admit it does always look cold.. an Excellent haiku Sam

Thank you so much, Paige! I often find it difficult to write just one haiku. I love writing haiku strings! The curse of inspiration and a loquacious gene! Merry Christmas to you!

Responding to your reply to me below, you probably come up more often with correctly written haiku than most. I love the form. But it's difficult to find great ways with juxtaposition. Mine are often hot or miss!

I am so honored, Richard, by your feedback! Thank you so much. What a wonderful compliment! Having spent so much time experiencing winter in the mountains and growing up in the NW, I was hoping to translate that feeling of icy fire in this haiku! And, it was such fun to write and remember winter's personality! Take care. Blessings to joy and warmth to you! It can get bone chilling cold and damp in the great north woods!

I absolutely love your haiku too its so concise and so elegant with such an eloquent flow to it: especially love the mention of moon and how you’ve also described what winter does ; shivers, And also how descriptive you’ve been here especially in the line “ streaks through crystal icicles ~“ must be very cold where you are at right now? Sending you light always. I always enjoy reading your poems
