An eagle circles low to scout the land
As regal as a symbol should command
A hoisted flag whips in the brushing of the wind
These are symbols which have dignity to span
Whose rapturous silent song of antheming
Reminds me of the price that has been paid
For me to walk the independence trail so paved
With youth and strength, so grappled and pursued
Not fearless, yet courageous endurance is renewed
Where blood and tears have made the pages fold
Let me not forget the tragic stories told
Out of the cleansing night of stars and tides
Here on the shores where freedom never dies
Let me not forget the price of those who gave their all
In that rich earth a richer dust conceals
How dear the cost for me to walk so free
My peace of mind so blessed by freedom's breeze
Where I walk head held high and all the while I know
That souls were lost for me, where last bells were tolled
Where quiet shadows fall, and solemn thoughts recall
Where the eagle crowns the flagpole, we call home
