Why Forgive

Why should I forgive?
Or turn the other cheek
They lied to me, what a creep
So I gave it to the LORD
Now what
So tell me what’s the difference?
How is it by my turning the other cheek
Can bring me any relief?
I’m a doormat, being walked on
I stand a broken man, I stand alone

Offense was taken against me,
Or do anyone care?
I was talked about, laughed at
All because I don’t follow the crowd
So tell me what’s the difference?
You don’t know what I’ve been through
So tell me something, that makes a difference.
What I have to say, you may not want to hear,
But these words, they can be the cure
He too was laughed at
He too was talked about
He too did not follow the crowds
The difference is, he did it for YOU.
Jesus did it all for YOU,
We forgive, but that is His way
And that makes all the difference in the world.
