Why Do I Self Express

My written words have a soul of their own. They are not the same as the words I speak, or the words I am careful to not speak. Writing speaks to others the way no other voice can, Except maybe the voice of music or dance or art or sheer unadulterated joy. My self-expression will be what my children and grandchildren clamor for after I am gone. My great-great-great-great grands might want to know something about this Woman who preceded them, to check commonality, shared spirit, my ideals. I express myself for them, but mostly for me. To not express myself would be a lie. I have to live my truth. This is why. Written 9-14-2018 Poetry Contest Sponsor: Line Gauthier Why Would Your Self Expression Matter to Others?

Beautifully expressed, Caren, right from your heart, and mirrors the heart and soul of every poet that he or she must express and share. Well done! Hugs, Sandra

Well expressed thought waves, Carol. it's so true that how we write is so different sometimes from our verbal interaction and I so wish that my Father had put into writing some of his life's experiences. I enjoyed reading this.

Thank you Wendy. It came to me suddenly, and poured itself onto the page and said I am done. And I always follow my heart.

I love that you are writing all this down for them... someday they will be SO GLAD! I have relatives in my family I never met, but I feel I "know" them by enjoying the books and artwork they left behind, and that is priceless!

Before you get too jealous- "enjoying" was a slightly strong word for SOME of my family's writings... some was pure vanity, (not that they 'had something to say'). But, for better (or absolutely atrocious- in the case of one particular relative)... I am fascinated by who & what went before me. At least, your family will have something truly awesome to cherish!

I have almost nothing like that from my relatives. Almost nothing.
