Who Do You Say That I Am?
When I was five, I was taught
Of God’s love and that I ought
To keep in mind that I was bought
From this world at a great price. God sought
Me, my life. This is why, while on Earth, He fought
So hard and so long minus any pride;
So tried, so tired with no one at his side.
When I was a teenager, I chose to decide
To no more need Him -- not now that I
Was nearly a woman. I forgot that He died
For me, a mere mortal. Thus, I lived in haste
Allowing my life to wander to waste.
Then at age twenty-two, I prayed just in case
I was not, afterall, born again; saved
From hell, myself and the eternal grave.
Sadly, as the wind blows the leaves to and fro,
So it was back and forth with my fickle soul
Having reached middle age; having lost all control
Of the “me” then and now, what of tomorrow?
Who do I say He is? The cause of Love’s Flow.
I say this because faithful He has been
Of all of my weaknesses, failures and
Not once did He turn from me when
All others chose not to be my friend.
So, I will meet Him when life comes to its end.
