Who Are the Men

Who are these men who would leave To storm the gates of hell’s domain? Who are these who don't grieve For their brother’s wounds and pain? For the sound of a thousand feet That march to the beat of a drum With the bitter taste of defeat Bringing lonely soldiers back home. Where are the girls of the neighborhood Whose loves were lost at sea? Where are those who died in foreign lands Who hung on a forsaken tree? They come from long lines of soldiers Whose solemn duty was fulfilled; And their blood lay silent on the ground When the enemy had killed. Where are the boys dressed in blue Who flew when their eyes were blind? Did God bless this awful mess That was created by mankind? Who are the warriors destined to fail Who rode with the cross to die? Will they go down in history Did their mother's cry? Who are these who would fight us now Has their purpose been concealed? Only with the dark hands of time Will the reason be revealed.

So much grief and sorrow... a litany of woes. They say that history is destined to repeat itself, (if we don't do something about it.) In the words of PP&M - 'When will they ever learn?' A truly heartfelt piece, full of significant questions. Keith

they are honored where ever they are. like the decorated soildiers say the guys that really deserve the metals could not return. sometimes i feel that behind the curtians of dieities that their is a quota of sacrifices that must be made to earn freedoms for mankind and nations. more that one man died on a cross but it was His that made the difference.

The horrors of war and the cry of families who lose loved ones. The souls who gave their life and never got to live full ones. Sad the world has to fight. love phyl

Who are these men of lust, greed and glory. Rip off the masks and let's see. Well that's not right. Oh no, what's the story. Well there's you and there's me. This is from Supertramp.

Who is Frqnk? Did Frank write a Clouds and Festivals too? Strong write, Liz. As for the purpose - I grow sick of hearing that some have killed in the name of God. Leave God out of it! "Who are the warriors destined to fail - Who rode with the cross to die?" Surely Jesus would be appalled at the killing gone on in his name. I think you pose some very important questions. Great work. Love, daver

unfortunately we can become immune to death as we see it all the time on the news, just like poverty, it is so easy to see war as the norm. it only effects us when we know someone personally. ironocally those who deal in war, make sure their prodiginy dont go.Being morbid I think humans are expanding too quickly, over 70 billion of us, all taking resources. in nature disease or lack of food corrects populations of creatures. I fear war will be used one day to correct us.

Shades of Gordon Lightfoot here ("Protocol"). I am a massive Lightfoot fan...I sing and play many of his songs. Interesting. xoxo Robert.
