Who Am I? I'M Jean Valjean - Oops, Wrong Musical
Okay, friend, pull up a chair and I will tell you my story,
I will be as honest as I can and not add fictional glory.
Fifty-one summers have passed with me alive upon this earth,
I still try to approach each new day as if it brings a new birth.
I became a father far too young; the marriage did not last,
Custody was granted to me of the three children from this past.
I married again, I’m a lucky man, to find a woman I adore
We couldn’t reproduce so adopted a son to bring our heirs to four.
I love to play sports of every sort and stay active even today,
I love the outdoors, to hike and explore, taking pictures along the way.
I read when I can, but then again, it’s hard to find the time
And I love to write little poems, thinking up words that rhyme.
My latest achievement, so it seems, you may have stumbled upon it,
On a poetry site on the Internet, I entered this contest and won it!
(That last line is a bit premature, I know - but, hey, it rhymes! ;-) )
