Who Am I
WHO AM I?
Elvis and others recorded a song
Asking who am I
My life seemed to be all wrong
I'll attempt to tell you why
Am I the one who sowed wild oats
And hoped my crop would fail
Would the things of which I'd boldly gloat
Cause me to end up in jail
The sweet young hitchhiker I gave a ride
To the next town up the road
End up carrying an unnamed child
With no one to share the load
Or would she have an abortion
To hide her guilt and shame
What would be her portion
Of having a child who had no name
That is only one nightmare
Believe me, there were more
But somehow I just didn't care
About the horrible life I bore
Until one day I met the Lord
In a basement on my knees
Amazing Grace was the precious chord
That broke sins chains from me
Now I am a forgiven man
Through that same amazing grace
I live according to God's great plan
None other can take His place
I used to scoff at those
Who saw through my every scam
I'd laugh and just turn up my nose
Til I met the Great I AM
He saved me from a life of sin
And now I'm heaven bound
I opened my heart and let Christ in
A child of The King is who I am
