Whispers of Love

My love knew how I longed for twilight Tender whispers he bestowed each night The soothing sound of his mellow voice Gave me hope and made my soul rejoice I first heard him speak on the radio Quickly I turned up the audio Who was this man named John Devonshire? His deep tone set my passion afire John always knew the right words to say How gently he made my heart strings sway To this day I cling to memories From heaven his voice carries on a breeze So often I still hear him whisper “You are my one and only lover” And I respond as my teardrops fall “You’re still my life, my hope, my all” * Written April 5, 2014, by Carolyn Devonshire
