Whispers of Light

Hidden in the darkness of a forest’s thick brush A white-tailed deer’s leg has been caught in a trap Aside from her sad moans, she hears not a hush No matter how she tries, her leg she can’t unwrap And as she frets about the fate of her wee fawn A light appears above and captures her gaze As a bright image emerges, accompanying dawn A choir of angels resounds with hymns of praise She raises her eyes to see spirits afloat Just in time to see one drifting down to her side The doe utters a prayer, as the angel strokes her coat And the power of this spirit cannot be denied It takes but a whisper of hope to free nature’s soul As suddenly the angel unharnesses her leg The injured doe is carried beyond the dark hole To a fawn that for its mother’s life does beg These fantasies of the forest are quite common, you see When a mother in peril needs the grace of God’s hand To reunite her with a baby that cries out with glee And two lives are saved by an angelic band *Written by Carolyn Devonshire on February 16, 2014 for Gail’s contest.

Your words of new grain stock prepared and processed like well spiced pork with each line presenting a readily available fork to consume a wonderful meal is a simple description of your work full of creativity and intelligence.

Also, VERY late congratulation to the Seminoles. Jimbo Fisher was Nick Saben's defensive coordinator at LSU so I was very happy for him and was glad to see Bobby Bowden at the coin toss. What a game it was!

As beautiful as Nature can be, not many are prone to see the true harshness it can provoke upon its wildlife. It doesn't help that man also contributes to this. Great write Carolyn.
