Notes About The Poem

Inspired by John Lawless contest " where do teardrops go" just letting my thoughts flow.

Premiere Contest Winnerwhere do teardrops go

I weep jinxed trinkets
clasped with obsidian oppression,
yet I am not weak ~
I am a beautiful wreckage
of weathered odysseys,
still ferrying the burden
of burnt promises
and bruised perceptions.

but they, the ignorant, remain oblivious ~
they do not know
where the ache of a heartbeat resides,
where the powerful pitch of a vibration
within a wistful violin,
soaked in soul’s rose water, illuminates…

so we question the lawless pages:
where do teardrops go?
where does the salt of sorrow settle,
crystallizing into the cadence of coldness
between the fingers of forsaken flesh,
or in sonnets never once allowed to rhyme,
within the formless art
of conventional conviction?

my tears are now studded stars ~
a cosmic current of scars,
creased with astral ash,
calling out the names of faces
as I drift toward the desire to be undone,
while sparks of moonlight
echo the throb
that trauma stole,
softly teasing
the vulnerable veins of twilight
as arteries of midnight
carry inner conflict
into a calming realm of warm release…

and when it drizzles wordless woe,
follow the train of thoughts,
taste this truth
~ the flavor of lament ~
as drifting despair rises as violet vapor,
returning in liquid constellations
condensed from collapsed dreams.

the sky forever homes
this silk of storm and hail ~
unclothed weather,
a panoramic vision
of suppressed tears made rain,
ebbing and flowing through
the deep oceanic swell of turbulent emotions…

Yours is the rarest sovereignty IE: you have so impressed the ink that it forgets it was ever merely ink. It transubstantiates into weather, returns as rain, and leaves the reader wondering whether tears have always preferred the sky to the eye. A consummate act of poetic alchemy.

Congratulations on your top win with this piece! I appreciate the deep questions you ask, such as, "Where do teardrops go? Where does the salt of sorrow settle"? You mention lamentations, and I agree. Regrets, should-have-dones, missed opportunities, wasted chances, etc., are among our most bitter, tearful sorrows. Well done!! Very best, BW

Ink. I miss you. I see you got a trophy. Was it entered in Roberts contest? I used my teardrops poem in Roberts contest. Superb phrasings as always . The wistful violin. The wordless woe. It's amazing how you come up with so many great images. Congrats on trophy win

"I am a beautiful wreckage of weathered odysseys, still ferrying the burden of burnt promises and bruised perceptions." Who else can voice the burden of burnt promises better than you, dear Empress ! Each time I read your poem, I am made to think of my own poems that have no wings to soar high. I know such comparisons are not going to do any good to me... still. However I am so happy to get exposed to such high level of poetic diction. "where does the salt of sorrow settle, crystallizing into the cadence of coldness" another pair of stunning lines! Simply awesome.... I am speechless....

A stunning write Ink you write from depth of your heart, soul, spirit. Such inspiration for all who read your creations. " Yet I am not weak ~" that speaks of the warrior spirit deep within you. Trauma, hurt, betrayal all suck. But like I wrote in my last poem knocked down But Never Knocked out ~ " my tears are now studded stars ~ a cosmic current of scars " beautifully expressed hugs <3

"yet I am not weak ~ " -- For sure, embrace life, meeting each opportunity head-on. "where the powerful pitch of a vibration within a wistful violin," -- improving with age. I have nurtured, repaired many. Caressed their devoted lifespans of soulful expression. "taste this truth ~ the flavor of lament ~ " When one reaches a certain again, even lament is life yet, a chance to breath one more mystical flavor of being. Tears are not the problem, once one learns to stay afloat all inclemency. Faith is our lifeboat.
