When Time Stood Still
It was a beautiful Sunday...
instead of working...we made it a fun day.
We hardly get to spend time together...
so we cherish it...no matter the weather.
We smiled as we sang our favorite song...
as we happily went driven along...
you turned to me and gave me your silly grin...
just then the car in front of us began to spin.
It happened so fast...I don't know where to begin.
Tires were squealing...there was bustin glass...
my life flashed before me...I remember last...
thinking this just can't be true...
just then I turned and looked at you...
your eyes were closed and you didn't move.
I screamed " there's no me if there isn't you!"
I didn't know what else to do.
So I grabbed your hand and I held on tight...
firemen cut my door off and then said " alright."
But I wouldn't go without a fight...
asking..." Tell me...will he be alright?"
I no longer knew if it was day or night...
they answered " We are sorry...he has passed away."
There were no longer any words to say...
As time stood still.
