When the Honeymoon Is Over
When the Honeymoon Is Over
By Elton Camp
When first married, couples sing a happy song
Each thinks that the mate can just do no wrong
But a few months after the marriage did begin
Is when cold, hard reality will begin to set in
All that lovey-dovey stuff will go just so far
There's rent, housework and payment on a car
And each of the two like to have their own way
No matter what it is that the spouse has to say
"My mother was right, I should've married Joe."
"Mom said you were a mistake & I see it's so."
The fight escalates and they both begin to curse
"I married you for better, but find it's all worse."
If they want to avoid a life of endless heartache,
They must learn what it means to give and take
