When Love Fails Reason -

Reason is a tool,
it can not escape the boundries of calculation as oxygen departs from blood,
logic operates on the body of algorhythems thumping along trails of faceless fates,
reason is a scavenger of possibilities matured into conclusions born from imagination,
without formulas to navigate the maze of Life's elasticity reason becomes music unplayed,
reason needs it's parent of the playground so to construct a kingdom worth caring for,
provided with an objective it can flourish as seed to stem, highlight the heroics of heaven,

Love is a hope,
confidence to dream is what it encourages, to orchestrate talent into the physical dimension,
love is the currency paying the mercenary of reason for a fort captured or erected properly,
schematics of soul lust, blueprints of God's sandbox gives direction to the 'chain reaction' of destinies,
where would purpose go to if denied sojourn in the mansions of love's capacious creativity,
love is the roadway feeding the logistics of our egocentric reason, the part of us seething for results,
tragedy is when love fails to convince reason to trust in adaptability, when smiles fail to persuade tears -

JUSTIN! This is absolutely awesome! How do you find the words? You simply astound me. My favorite line? "Love is the currency paying the mercenary of reason." That's it, Justin...you go to my favorite poet file, if you aren't there already. Lovely. If you have the time and the inclination, read my The Argument for Love...based on the classical Greek argumentation of pathos, ethos, and logos. :)

Yes, love is quite unreasonable, but I still like to think it can be within reason (maybe with two who are truly compatible)

I agree Andrea, in respect to relationships, but lets not repudiate the myriads of ways that love manifest such as in war, knowledge, thresholds, nature, power, art, etcetera - thanks for visiting again my friend - J.A.B. %

Perhaps there are skills we need to bring love to the place where it fulfills what it was designed to do. Perhaps we are lacking the ability to give what love needs to flourish. In the heat of the moment many mistakes are made and so there is much to think about as I read this.Love, Elizabeth

Thanks Lizzie, I love your mind - its so nice to know artists that take the time to internalize, and who can cultivate and share their wisdom - there is a certain discipline that love requires, to develop, to give - love demands attention, and sometimes we are too selfish for such prizes - J.A.B. %

It pleases me that you discovered multifaceted purpose in this write Joe - in some ways this poem is about trying to avoid fabricating excuses for avoiding love a harbor in ones' life - J.A.B. %

Yes, when love fails it is a tragedy..We can't control other's emotions though..Thanks for stopping by..My night and dark was written to the theme of Dusk (I worked on it for a contest but decided not to enter it)..So that is the reason that it alluded to love being a nighttime asset..Thanks again..Sara

I respect the energy of your work Sara - even creating a healthy relationship within our own reason and love is a contest Sara, this poem is about how the two can fail to co-exist - I like your analysis - thanks - J.A.B. %

"Reason is a tool", sounds like a hyper mathematical equation , Justin. The sum and dividens might work well for most things, but don't always function properly when it comes to love. "Love is a hope", it can reach beyond 'reason', and becomes its own aggregate and entity. The last line of this write, "when smiles fail to persuade tears" and one refuses "to trust in adaptability" leaves this on a sorrowful note. Best wishes, love, Mikki

Indeed Mikki - there is no guarantee that our reason will sustain the song of love, whether in warfare, family, faith etcetera - this write is about the power, influence, and potential failure innate in love - I appreciate your continued attention to my work Mikki - J.A.B. %

I chose not to hesitate regarding the inspiration & development of this rather stodgy philosophical piece based upon the relationship of love &it's rival, it's partner reason - normally I prefer to really allow my inspiration to ferment aand boil befor formulating rhythem & metaphor but I just needed to manufacture this one immediately - delighted that you respect it my friend - J.A.B. %
