When Life Was a Song 2

When life was a song, respect was expected; mediocrity was rejected. When life was a song, work was meaningful; hard work was the norm. When life was a song, life was about realness, not fashion and form. When life was a song, A job was more than a check, and workers were proud of their craft. When life was a song, work was not a marathon, but it was hard and long. When life was a song, people did not like handouts but loved working for a living. When life was a song, parents were firm and strong, and the kids were secure. When life was a song, children were children and adults were adults. When life was a song, we lived to sing, and we sang to live. When life was a song, our lot in life was keyboards making happy tunes. When life was a song, it seems that time stood still, and stillness permeated the time. When life was a song, life was our music, and our music was life. When life was a song, we smiled, laughed, and loved; and everybody danced, even when we knew not how. When life was a song, people didn't whine over spilled milk but wiped it up and moved on to the next chapter of their lives. When Life was a song, we heard the sound of drums but danced by the rhythm of our heartbeats. When life was a song, we cared less about being cool and more about finishing school so we didn't grow up to be fools. When life was a song, fashion, habits, culture, and attitudes were formed on a downhome main street, not Madison Ave. and Holywood. These things we did and more; these ways we lived and led our lives when life was a song. 052020PS
