What's the P-Itch

At midnight Arthur fell asleep.
It was prevented to be deep,
he felt an itching on his head.
The unknown made the man´s flesh creep,

it maddened him. But look ahead!
He stumbled on the book he´d read,
then took a mirror. Look, a flea!
He slew the beast and went to bed.

Soon after on poor Arthur´s knee
he felt an itching. Look! A bee,
disturbed by unfamiliar light,
went for a walk on him. So he

got up again to start a fight.
The bee seemed to be out of sight,
but then with rabid battle cry
he hit the target. What a night!

Dropped into bed with a deep sigh,
in thick of fight night had gone by.
He triumphantly clapped his hands
... and felt an itching. Look, a fly!

Brilliant! I really enjoyed reading your poem this morning. It made me think of World War 1 soldiers in trenches covered in lice. Sounds like it's going to a long night.

Thank you very much, Joanna! I´ve submitted a number of cheerless poems so far, so it was high time for a jokey one.
