Notes About The Poem

Written 8th October 2026 ... theme from This Week's Poetry Art Challenge:October 5, 2026 - October 11, 2026.

Picture is my attempt at Poetry art. I think my leaf is better. Thanks to William the Concreter.

What The Trees Let Go

Autumn unbuttons the afternoon, loosens its   gold along the lane. A leaf   comes down without a sound and lands inside last night’s rain.   I used to press these little   flames between the pages of a   book, believing something   bright would stay if only I   refused to look. Now   copper gathers at my   feet; the branches   open to the grey. I   leave the fallen   leaves untouch ed and take the long   way   home   tod ay.

Isn't it terrific? Everything can be grey as long as we humans exist.

Humans as we know it ... those who take without care ... will not find the earth too happy with them.
