What Stays With Us
What stays with us?
Life itself?
That truly can not be
Life fades with time
like fog rolling over the sea.
What stays with us?
Gold and Jewels?
That truly can not be
Gold and jewels will tarnish,
and stay no more with me.
What stays with us like memory?
Since life fades,
And riches decay,
And all those whom we have loved
die or leave or fade away?
We have only memory.
memories of time well spent
Of laughter and joy and love-filled intent
