What of the Night
What of the night?
When the light ascends,
And the darkness descends;
When the night surprises.
What of the night?
When the tears fall
And the sorrows mount;
When the joys of life stall.
What of the night?
When souls entangle themselves
And the pains of life emerge;
When dreams turn into nightmares.
What of the night?
When shadows hide the source
And yesterday hurts; tomorrow lurks.
When tonight says happiness is just a word.
What of the night?
When it's my shadows I fear
And hope is no longer dear;
When I pray God will be near.
What of the night?
When the sun has risen
And warms all but me.
When I awake, morning is dark.
What of the night?
When I hear noises
and no one is there;
When quietness has escaped me.
What of the night?
