Many times, I've felt alone, my life a leaf the wind has blown. The ocean lies before me there. I ask myself and stare, What is solitude? Is it a boy behind a tree, hiding so that no one can see, knowing he isn't like the rest, in this world, living as a guest? Could it be a teenage freak unable to join in or speak, now a nightmare, then a dream, shouting a long silent scream? Or an old man lying in bed, forgotten by all, no life ahead? The sea knows not it's being viewed by a man who cannot conclude, What is solitude?

Hello David, Oh the many facets of loneliness and the human experience. The way you articulate feelings of isolation through emotions is relatable in so many ways. "Is it a boy behind a tree, hiding so that no one can see, knowing he isn't like the rest, in this world, living as a guest?" For me it just captures the essence of feeling out of place and the longing for connection. Well Inked! Autumn Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Hi Daniel, thanks - yep, you exactly got what I ended up aiming for, and I'm happy with it. When I started, I was thinking more ambitiously, going to try to explore what it really means to be alone, and how, one can be alone, but not feel lonely, can feel even feel at one with the universe, but it was hard to do it and rhyme - sometimes, I think rhyming hem me in.
