What I Knew
You stand in front of me.
I look at you and wonder how.
I saw you as I wanted you to be
Although I see the difference now.
What happened, that I turned away?
Not wanting to face what I knew.
Was I making believe that all was okay?
No illusions, I knew what I had to do.
I notice that you won't look me in the eye,
But I know deceit is reflected there.
I know of all the times you chose to lie,
no decency lies within you, anywhere.
I know about you, each and every little thing.
The price was high, the cost was a piece of me.
The darkness in you, was so encompassing
But what is left, I celebrate, I am free!
