What I Knew

You stand in front of me. I look at you and wonder how. I saw you as I wanted you to be Although I see the difference now. What happened, that I turned away? Not wanting to face what I knew. Was I making believe that all was okay? No illusions, I knew what I had to do. I notice that you won't look me in the eye, But I know deceit is reflected there. I know of all the times you chose to lie, no decency lies within you, anywhere. I know about you, each and every little thing. The price was high, the cost was a piece of me. The darkness in you, was so encompassing But what is left, I celebrate, I am free!

An assertive woman comes through loud and clear in this poem, taking her power back. Great one! I wish it happened more often than it does.

Thank you, Heidi For your time to read and comment on each and everyone of my poems. And the support that you give, not just with poetry.

Thank you, Arturo, always nice to hear from you. Peace and freedom, are we always searching, are they really attainable? Just musings...
