What I hold in my hand - ephemera

There was a buzz in the air My Grandad had bought himself new gloves And get this 'half price!' "How did you do it Grandad?" I asked, quite wide eyed and looking for wisdom "Well, these were in the window. One side is faded, but they function just the same and you can't tell if you wear that side on the palm" I don't know how many years ago that was - I'd guess around 40 and those were his gloves for maybe a decade until he died. They are just cheap woollen gloves, faded on one side but I still keep them in my drawer and remember the day a little bit of wisdom came my way. Not everything fades.

Lovely sentiments expressed here. Very much reminded me of my own Granddad. Well done. Quick question. I entered your Ephemera contest recently. You mentioned that there would be 12 honourable mentions but only 7 are listed in the final results. Just curious as to why that is. I hasten to add that this is not a criticism. Just wondering. Thanks. I enjoy your poetry.

Thank you very much Jim. Apologies, for the contest there is standard text regarding 12 honourable mentions and over time I've stopped thinking of it literally. I'm sorry if that was disappointing, I'll be more mindful in future.

Dear DD, I Loved your story of the faded gloves. It is a tender reminder of the enduring wisdom found in life's simplest moments. Through your grandfather's humble gloves, you beautifully convey the timeless value of practical wisdom and the lasting imprint of cherished memories. It's the permanence of certain truths amidst the ephemeral nature of life. Loved it! - Blessings, Daniel

Thank you Daniel, it struck me how out of sync the event was with how it all felt to me. It's quite strange what gets pulled out as meaningful in the mind. Thank you for your commentary.
