What evil are they up to
with those silent lights
blinking blinking blinking
red blue green orange silver
vanishing into nothing as suddenly
as they appeared,
leaving me to question
how demented am I?
Perhaps it isn't evil they intend,
perhaps it's simple acknowledgment;
in a vast universe they and we
are not the only intelligences
looking up or looking down,
though connection cannot be made
in either realm.
My dreams have turned
to otherworlds,
otherworlds I don't understand
and which remain, for now, unknowable.
