What Are We

What are we but vibrant green leaves in the foliage of the tree of life, soon to be turned brown and fall before others take their place?

What are we but fast-moving waves on the surface of the ocean of humanity, heading towards the shores of oblivion where they break up and die?

What are we but wandering clouds, chased across the sky of existence by the winds of necessity and consumed by the sun of voracious time?

Let us ponder for a while, my loving friends,

And

Let us try to answer this:

How sensible is it to waste our ephemeral life by
Hurting one another?

Wouldn't it preferable be,
more holy and wiser
Only love, us to harbor in our hearts and
Nothing other?

Demetrios, Your poem speaks well to rational, reasoning people with a message of hope. Though perhaps sad it can't reach all the others. -Richard

We are finite and infinity, rolled into one. A great poem.

Thank you, Timothy, for your good words about me and my poetry. The beauty, though, is found in the readers soul!

Very Very wise words indeed here Demetrios!! But, as we both know, unfortunately this is a lesson that mankind has never mastered nor fully understood. In words yes, but in deed no. With all going on in our troubled world today, your answer is certainly the preferable one, but will our fellow man ever stop, to think and adopt this better approach?? Enjoyed your write here very much!! A "7" and a FAV of mine. Cheers and Best Wishes, Gary

Yes, you are so right my friend, Gary, about mankind that has not mastered the idea and has not understood it. I am aware of it BUT someone must repeat it many times till one day, many centuries from now, humanity will understand! Thank you my friend for everything!

Now you know that alone you are not, dear Eve! There are many good people thinking the same way, unfortunately though, they seem to be outnumbered by those who do not! Thank you so much for your kind visit and comment!
