What We Have Now
What we have now
is too easy to choose,
but not too hard to lose
In times of sorrow;
who felt a bit sorry for Mack...
when he was lonelier than Jack?
Ah, who was aware
of his loneliness
that made him cry for hours;
haven't we cried alone
hiding our tears behind dark smiles,
never thinking it wouldn't happen to us?
Even rain falls on both
weak,and strong, we have
the same awful fate;
death is Mankind's grave:
who can escape it?
What we have now
needs strength to grow,
it must be held tight;
we thought life
would have given us
only the greatest joys,
never a single doubt,
heartache or tear!
Will we go on ignoring fear...
when it poses a threat?
Ah, the outcome
is a sure defeat!
What we have now
will be lost tomorrow...
if uncertain days will come;
whatever we have now
will be stolen by the quick
hands of merciless time
that favors the slick;
all we can is to find some
comfort in bitter wine!
