I am turning back weathered pages of time, to our backyard sandbox. Dad made it for me, and my brother. I see us, playing, so peacefully. Oh, why did you go, to that war so far away, and came home to us in a flag draped box ?

a poignant poem about loss, one I can deeply identify with. I loved the contrast between the innocent, sweet remembrance of father in the first few lines contrasted with the loss and the end of innocence in the last three lines....add such depth and emotion to your words.
