We Were There
If I were to write one last poem, I'd write
it with a quill that edges time
I'd let my soul decide the strength of the wind,
the height of the climb, the flavor of the last
word....
If I were to join one last contest
I'd choose a subject very dear to me,
then spend the night consorting with my muse
beyond the stars
In the morning my quill would be bathed in dawn,
and your heart would be nestled next to mine
on the lawn a signage of old,
"we've been here before !"
