We Don'T Sit At the Table Anymore

The aroma permeates throughout the house.
It's that time when we used to sit at the table.
The time we would talk to each other.
The time we would pass the potatoes and carrots.
The time Dad would carve the meat.
Mom would remind everyone of their manners,
And to keep elbows off the table.
It was the time we would laugh and reminisce.
Even the dog would hide under the table,
Hoping someone would drop anything.
Those were the days,
BUT
We don't sit at the table anymore!

What a wonderful story/write. So very true. It was a fun time to eat/talk. Today everyone is too busy or on their phone. Many dining room tablets are covered. Have a blessed day/weekend.......................

Thankyou for your comment. I really feel like the odd one out at mealtime because I am the only one that wants to sit at the table.

Ah, this is sad but true. I love Thanksgiving because that is when we do actually sit at the table! Sweet memories brought to mind of something most of us took for granted, never expecting things to change.

I love making a meal for others but saddened when they would just as soon sit anywhere but at the table. Thanks for your comment.

Hello Virginia, family gatherings have gone into the past. No one does it anymore. Hugs.

I think women just could not face all those dirty dishes any more?

Although I don't have one I suspect 99 percent of women have dishwashers. No excuse! The world is a changing that's for sure!

Boy isn't that the truth! Just wonder what life is going to be like...scarey for me to think about, although I am sure my folks felt the same way when I sported my first mini skirt.! Thanks for comment.
