We're Covid free - restrictions lifted Shop barriers, they have been shifted But there’s still a queue For the ladies loo Weak bladders, us gals have been gifted! Bars opened for drinking last night At closing there’s a stupid fight Folk have drunk too much beer And they cannot think clear These drunken brawls are such a fright We’re finally free to go shopping Pub’s open, at discos folk bopping We can meet up with friends At night time or weekends No lockdown, but home’s where I’m stopping! On the Isle of Man we have been covid free for 30 days and many restrictions have been lifted including social distancing but in general we are not doing anything different to how its been over the past 12 weeks - the BEST thing is I can visit mum in her care home once a week for 15 mins but because other people aren't using their slots I've been able to see her twice this week - I was one of few people who used to visit on a daily basis so I've been told if there are free slots I can request to go again. the border is still closed so hopefully we can remain virus free but we cannot be complacent. 6/19/20

Nail on the Head, Jan, and quite incredibly, I'd so like persons to P themselves for flouting the simple guidelines given, nice :) xx

Hi Jan, I thought of you and your mom and thought of the British health care centres for the elderly. You first spoke about her in one of my first poem's 'Gods waiting room' and I honestly wondered if she was OK but because we haven't spoken about her since then I didn't want to ask. I'm glad she is fine and well, and very happy that you are covid free - be well Jan. Blessings. Jennifer.

Excellent write with some great news, Jan! I'm happy you can visit your mom. I can only imagine how thrilled she was to see you. Unfortunately, our cases in Florida are increasing everyday since we have reopened. I refuse to pretend that this virus is gone, so I am staying home with my kids. I'm praying people start taking it seriously if not for themselves, then for our elderly population...thanks for sharing. I love reading some good news Blessings, Rhonda xx

Seems the numbers are rising elsewhere now some restrictions have been eased, we cannot be complacent!:-) hugs jan xx

Well done! Hawai'i is quite the opposite as it is so easy for ONE person to pass the virus on to an entire family, nursing home, or work place! Businesses that opened have had to close again as ONE customer infected the premise and staff! Stay home and stay safe! Aloha! Rico

we are not doing much different to how its been the last 12 weeks but i can see mum - now over a month of no cases but it could all change when people come from elsewhere so they have strict quarantine:-) hugs jan xx

Dear...I'm so happy for you. This is a lovely poem of joy...except for the brawling! ;) But even that is a sign that things are going back to "normal". So sweet the footnote. Bless you for being there for your Mum as often as possible. Sending hugs

the fight was to be expected in the circumstances - folk celebrating the lifting of restrictions a little too much! I can see mum more than once a week if no one takes up the daily slots - the staff know I would normally see mum every day so they are happy for me to go in if there is a spare slot available:-) hugs jan xx

Jan, your island has had remarkable success fighting the virus. Your limerick is witty and also has historic value. One day in the future, I suspect many will deny there was ever a pandemic (just as they deny there was no holocaust). If these people would read your poem, they would understand how things have been here at this critical time. For its important historic value, this is a favor for me. Hugs, carolyn Love, Carolyn

Our Island is small and I guess that has helped stem the spread of the virus but restrictions were made for our own good and those who broke the rules got punished. It's a shame there were fights the day the pub opened but I have to say it didnt surprise me :-( hugs jan xx

That's great news Jan, but as you said you cannot be complacent, We had no plan to begin with so cases are still rising..

Hello Jan … timely limericks indeed. We were on the cusp of having no cases but a Black Lives Matter demonstration, cases have been on the rise again so restrictions set to be lifted may not be now - remain vigilant Jan - Lindsay

sadly I think the demonstrations will have caused the virus to take more of a grip and the number of cases will rise:-( tragic in so many ways:-( hugs Jan xx

You've certainly documented how the lifting of restrictions has affected your island...On Monday where i live they will open the bars...Let's see what happens...Well done
