We are all children on the inside
starving for attention
needing to be heard
children who have something to say
Children who need to feel safe and loved
cherished and praised
needing to receive and give hugs
children who need to feel special
Children who have to be cuddled and kept warm
needing runners and winter coats
one special present at Christmas
and a birthday cake with candles every year
children who need to be protected at any cost
from bullies and monsters
We are all children on the inside
craving to jump into rain puddles
to play hide & seek and dress up
and play with bubbles during bath time
Children who want to play with cardboard boxes
ride bikes with the wind in our hair
climb a pony at the petting zoo
children who want to be taken out to the park
to play, be happy and run free
We’re all children wishing we never had to grow up
needing to laugh and be silly
play hopscotch till the dinner bell
we’re all children inside still craving attention
love, hugs, reassurance, comfort, smiles, laughter…
