We All Have Talents

We all have talents I usually covet ones I do not have I neither dance or sing However, I am fascinated by the gift of both People ask me to sing softly when I sing When I dance they use words like “freestyle” “frenzy” *crazy” “zany” and “with abandon” The best part of my dancing is that others are less self-conscious and will get up and try My dancing takes the perfection out of this talent I clap on the half beat like Willie Nelson’s band I know he’s not going to hire me or ever know I am okay with flunking music class

I loved this poem, Caren. It is so honest. Although I have play piano and organ my whole life, I cannot sing or dance...well I try, half-heartedly, but I know I am not good at these things. We need to find out what we ARE good at and really practice it. You are doing that admirably!

Thank you Hank. It is liberating to finally realize that it is okay to be a poet, a writer, a cartoonist and an artist!

Hidden Talents, I am still looking for mine. As you say, Caren, some people have talents that would not be recognised if nobody appreciated them.

I feel some people never play enough to discover their talents. I feel sorry for them.
