Watching Waves Break
From the shoreside
deep on the horizon
an army approaches.
Whirling twirling unfurling
hidden depths rush forward
almost mechanically.
Sometimes menacingly
grey cold and icy camouflage
heaving its way onwards
often taking those
who dare stand in its path.
Other times more friendly,
offering juxtaposed tranquil
distinguished turquoise,
and inviting blues and greens
crusted with purest pearly curls,
or showering spectacular diamonds
like confetti over wedding party.
Playful tide kissing
caressing bodies feet and shores.
Until time to retreat
replenishing its strength,
before diligently returning
waving to those who care
to watch once more.
