Walking Away - a Mother's Love

Will you ever forgive me for walking away? You must understand that my heart was breaking But I left you in the arms of another woman I had no choice, I had to walk away and not look back Painfully aware that if I turned round and saw the two of you together I would have to run back, hold you close and never let you go ... Having you adopted was the hardest decision of my life FREE VERSE ON LOVE CONTEST III Sponsored by Laura Loo 12~15~15

Oh, my gosh. I searched for your new poems to be uplifted and lost in entertaining poetry, but, no, you went and brought me down! Down. There is some wall or walls out in the world where this needs to hang. So very many people would be personally touched by this write, not just overly empathetic like me. You have moved me ... CayCay (I hope my next click is something lighthearted!)

I did put emotive write for a reason CayCay I found it difficult to write so knew others would be similarly affected. My other recent writes are more light hearted especially a couple in the last 2 days:-) hugs jan xx

Thanks Eric it was an emotional write - I can't imagine the trauma for the parent or the child - a heartbreaking situation for any mother:-( hugs Jan xx
Date: 12/15/2015 4:27:00 PM
WoW! Didn't see that coming. I work with a midwife who fostered a child for three years, then had to hand him back to his birth mother. Another type of agony to endure.

DAMMIT JAN.....that last line was like a kick in the chest... a powerful write, drew me in, invited me to stand on the trap door...and BANG!!! the floor dropped out. Think we'll all be looking up at this one on the winners list

Thanks for the lovely comment John. I found it difficult to write this poem as I was trying to put myself in the position of the mother giving up her child. In the 1960's my mum's best friend adopted 4 children and they had the most amazing up bringing and it always made me think how heartbreaking it must have been for their parents to give them up :-( hugs Jan xx
