Walking Away - a Mother's Love

Will you ever forgive me for walking away?


You must understand that my heart was breaking
But I left you in the arms of another woman
I had no choice, I had to walk away and not look back 
Painfully aware that if I turned round and saw the two of you together
I would have to run back, hold you close and never let you go ...
Having you adopted was the hardest decision of my life

Another type of agony to endure. I found it difficult to write this poem as I was trying to put myself in the position of the mother giving up her child. In the 1960's my mum's best friend adopted 4 children and they had the most amazing up bringing and it always made me think how heartbreaking it must have been for their parents to give them up :-( hugs Jan xx
