Sara, I know the feeling this German word conveys; I've experienced it many times when I was able to walk in the woods as a younger man. The word is also typical of how Germans tack one or several nouns to another, as in "schadenfreude" and countless others. German is my third language, French my first. Hmm. Maybe 'Walden's Pond' (by Henry Thoreau) is distantly related. (Though it's probably named after some fellow named 'Walden').

Gershon, I get word of the day from dictionary.com and waldeinsamkeit was a word. I am not sure that I can pronounce it even though I have listened and tried a number of times. LOL..Thanks for dropping by. Sara

Look it up on the internet and you can click on the megaphone by the word and get the pronunciation and practice. Of course, I am not German, so it doesn't come easy to pronounce. Thanks for stopping by. Sara
