"V" words Poetry Contest

Sponsor: Constance La France

FIRST PLACE

“You have no need to travel anywhere – journey within yourself. Enter a mine of rubies and bathe in the splendor of your own light.” By Rumi A voyage from known to unknown… From familiar to unfamiliar, This universe, a mystifying puzzle, How much we are able to decipher! Childhood to adulthood… Life's long journey, Ebbs and flows of a movement Towards meaning, or against the current, Tumultuous mostly, Joyous at times, painful often, An ocean of fascinating experiences, Waves of delightful memories Lapping on the shores of our senses! In ancient times, sailors and travellers embarked on Voyages to explore the mysteries of the world, Fear of being perished, from hunger or thirst, Angst of getting lost in tempestuous seas, Could never bar those adventurous minds. A river’s murmuring journey to the sea, Where it meets the eventual destination, Falling leaves get frenzied in ultimate euphoria, Returning to the soil, their resting place final! A candle melts and drips to its end illuminating darkness! We all are on our voyage… Only at a temporary harbour we pause, Steer through blissful moments, Sorrows and misery, Heartbreak and despair, We smile, we bleed, we mourn, Until we reach our infinite abode!

Dearest Mala, I so loved reading this from the quote right through to the last word. The reader is drawn in on the journey, the voyage of life, with you. ‘Lapping on the shores of our senses’ How true that we are all on our spiritual journey, our voyage of self discovery. I particularly love the last stanza. We navigate through both calm and rough seas with a guiding light showing us the way home if we keep our eyes and heart open. Such a beautiful write dear Mala as you are.

Dearest Christina, Your comments are so precious and valuable - what else can a poet expect more than a thoughtful reflection? Many times I have this feeling of a spiritual journey - in my own surroundings, in my heart. Life is full of turbulence, still we want to live every moment the best way we can. Your comments inspire me, enlighten my thoughts, delight my feelings. Thank you for such a wonderful comment, Dear Poetess. Hugs and blessings ~

Your poem reminds us that we are all travelers on our own individual voyages, navigating through sorrows and joys, heartbreaks and blissful moments, until we reach our infinite abode. It speaks to the universal human experience of resilience, growth, and the pursuit of meaning in the journey of life.

Stunning poem, and brilliantly crafted. You've captured the essence of both the external as well as the internal journey of life. I liked your imagery (waves of delightful memories). Truly life has an ebb and flow...therein lies our journey. Best wishes with the contest. I think your poem will do well. Have a great evening, hugs, Sara
