Visiting Daddy At Work
We drove them to the city
To where their daddy works
And double-parked outside, one of
The holiday-week perks.
The elevator zoomed them up;
The boss gave a hello.
They drew upon a white board,
Making pictures they could show.
The office mates had candy
Which, naturally, they shared,
A no-no on a normal day;
Today, though, no one cared.
A half an hour later,
Their daddy brought them down.
We drove to our apartment
On the other side of town.
A little lunch, some time to veg
Then back to home sweet home,
A holiday tradition and
A subject for a poem.
