vision is the most important sense
it connects us to our surroundings
and keeps us safe
vision is a physical sensory experience
of light reflecting off shapes and objects
imagine loosing this ability
I did and the quality of my life suffered
vision is our dominant sense
responsible for absorbing information
did you know the brain denotes more space
to vision than any other sense
my journey into darkness began at six years old
well, that is when my eyes were tested
and it was determined I need glasses
vision is responsible for so much in our life
as the years passed my vision became worse
the glasses thicker and stronger
until my sight could not be corrected with glasses
my only hope was surgery
but there was a risk of course
I decided to wait and became skilled at zooming
vision is the most important sense
there were many times I was lonely and isolated
I had to read using magnifying glasses
worry and anxiety, fear, and depression, hopelessness
were part of my daily life
then, a decision was made to have surgery
I was scared, perhaps I could loose what sight I had
so, this year I had three surgeries in a row
first the right eye, then the left, then both again
my days of blurry vision, dizziness and fear are over
I see everything in vivid technicolor, I wept
when I realized what I had been missing all my life
the hues of the trees, the color of the flowers
to see into the distance, the sky, clouds and birds
I love to go in nature now not afraid of falling
to the water edge and look within at the fish
at the surroundings that God created
every little detail clear and bright ... I am blessed
no more do I worry about missing anything
I can see 20/20
so, never take your vision for granted
