Vietnam Nurse

She Was My Nurse in Vietnam, I Wish I Had Known Her Name. She Smiled and Held My Hand, And Told Me No One Is to Blame. She Moved among the Wounded, Writing Letters for Us to Send Home. There Were a Few That Couldn’t Talk But She Kept Them from Feeling Alone. I Often Think about Her. The Way She Helped to Save My Life, And the Way She Calmed Me Down, As I Faced the Surgeon’s Knife. She Promised a Special Prayer for Me, And She Would Stay Right by My Side. I Honestly Think to this Day, If She Hadn’t, I Would Have Died. I Went Home Shortly after That, And Didn’t Think to Get Her Name. I Would like to Tell Her Thanks,, But I Can’t and Therein Lies the Shame. So..here’s to the Nurses of Vietnam, You Helped So Many of Us Live. What You Said and What You Did, Helped Decide What We Did... or Didn’t Give.

Connie, I couldn't say it nearly as sweetly as you have. I can't imagine there have been no comments on this one. It must be the resentment over the Vietnam war... I'll never understand the anti-war feelings.... Those who died there are just as dead as any who died in other wars....Great writing here...Jake
