I agree, God created us. He is father. But just for intellectual stimulation, there is a school of thought called bhakti yoga in which God is treated as lover. You might be aware as you are very knowledgeable.

The lover bit is a path we can avoid since ego comes in, labelling the relationship, as such. There are 4-paths in Tantra; Pratyabhijna (recognition), Kaula (celebration), Krama (energisation) & Spanda (vibration). Too detailed to discuss here

Bcoz even if we get to the awareness of singularity or oneness, that awareness, that knowing, does not grant us freedom within the sphere of awareness. God is Father and we are His child.
