Today marks the 75th anniversary of V.E day (victory in Europe)

when Nazi Germany surrendered bringing their reign of terror in Europe to an end.

However the war in the Pacific continued until september of that year when the Japanese finally surrendered.

Many brave servicemen and women died in the conflict and we must never forget their sacrifice.

many died fighting nazi ideology ~ we owe them so much Written on 8th May 2020.

I could not agree more. I was born and raised in Germany and my father fought a stupid war at the Eastern front for four years. He was thus a perpetrator, but dare I say also a victim of an evil ideology. He never talked much about the war and that silence shaped me a lot. Thanks for the reminder aand kind wishes, Kai

Thank you Kai, it was the ideology of Hitler and his followers not the German people. Thankfully we are at peace now and those once enemies are now friends. Tom

Sorry I am late on this one! Important we do not forget the past, It is our lesson for today. Hitler may be dead, but Mein Kampf is read by those in the Middle east to destroy those, not of their religious persuasion. Plus many leaders now use the virus as their flag to scars the heck out of people. Then~ control their lives, an insult to the dead, as we fold like pieces of tissue paper believing propoganda. love it tom. My 19 year old uncle was killed freeing Europe, dad was injured, how quickly they are fading. dad would have been 97 this year.. he was once the generation that conquered the world. now just a memory. thanks for reminding me. buddy

Thank you Timothy, they certainly had high values back in those days, many didn't have half of what we have today and they just got on with things. We should never forget their sacrifices. Tom

Sad that even today that twisted ideology is followed by a minority. We should never drop our guard. Stay safe Tom

Thanks Vijay, the world would be a different place if the Nazis had got their way. Yet even today evil regimes try and inflict their twisted ideology on others like ISIS. Tom
