Valentine's Day Cynic

Love 
I see it piled sky high on the supermarket shelves

Perfect pink packaging containing calorific chocolates and cute cuddly toys,  
seductive scents or sexy silk underwear
Slushy Valentine’s cards with ridiculous romantic rhymes
Stick on a cardboard heart and it's not just the vendor who is smiling!

A sea of red roses that stretches as far as the eye can see
Notice how the prices inflate higher than a helium 'I Love You' balloon
Yet on 15th February everything will be half price

Is this the price of true love or am I just a cynic?

Frederic Parker January 20, 2017 at 10:38 PM you are not a cynic, humans buy and sell everything, from pet rocks to bottled sweat from some movie star, we are quite sick as a species..valentines day, why not sell us a day on the concept of love..you get a card I get a card..we all get cards..silly..just plain silly..didn't mean to rant..now there is a thought RANT day we can give each other a card with a rant about what we don't like for one day out of the year... It just brought back scenes in my mind of throngs of men crowded in the "seasonal" aisle of the grocery store at 6:00pm on February 14th. I always got a kick out of that.
