Valentine Poem For My Beloved

Valentine’s Day we have never ever celebrated...
It’s our personal choice - we shouldn’t be berated
One Valentine’s day I proposed to you
Two year’s later we married and said ‘I do’
No chocolates, roses or cards on Valentine’s Day
There are many other days on which we both say
I LOVE YOU

I agree Modern day love is feel with materialistic things .... I wrote a poems about my own experience with Valentine's Day and it anything but about love.

Jan, I read this poem when you first posted it. I didn't comment because I wasn't sure how I felt about it. Please don't misunderstand, I think it's a lovely poem and I understand your feelings about the modern idea of celebrating Valentine's Day. It seems to me, though, that you did celebrate the holiday in the most profound way possible by proposing on that day. I give my wife, daughter and sometimes others little gifts every year, but I also do that throughout the year.

I agree with your comments James:-) I did propose on the day but we never have celebrated it in a commercial way with buying cards and gifts - we do that throughout the year too:-) hugs jan xx

Loved it. We too have foresworn participation of VD (of course, Valentine's Day). But if I were to take notice, this would be our 40th together.

that's the only way Love can be....not just one day where it can truly fly free....because if Love is truly in the heart....then everyday is when valentines start....and who just cant get it together....they are the ones to be lonely forever....awesome job jan....;)

Thanks Eric - I proposed to my hubby on Valentine's day and it wasn't a leap year lol but we never have exchanged cards or gifts or bowed to commercial pressure on one day of the year:-) hugs jan xx
