Unspoken Love

In the sylvan afternoon we drank mint julips with a spoon we smiled at clouds that looked like clowns we loved each other without sound without words we said it all as the rain began to fall we caught the drops upon our tongue we did not sing, we had not sung until our love began to fail our knowing looks began to pale deep chasms opened in between we filled them up with broken dreams spoken, written, sung and told the words were new, our love was old.
