Unrequited Love

I wish I’d never met you, For if such I’d never be, One with a single hapless clue, Of who I’d hope would be with me. Love has opened but a door, To a cliff I’ve fallen upon, Whose end is the untouched falling floor, Through gravity my heart is drawn. I wish to land with feet beneath, But I know they’ll never touch, For the words locked between my teeth, Speak reason trapped in a clenched clutch. “I love you” are words I’ll only hear, Spoken from my mouth’s recited scripts, Forever unheard by my own ears, As they’ll never be read by your lips. Spare me please oh whoever’s above, Of this feeling I have for him, Which grips me in an unrequited love, With a wretched unreasonable whim.
