Unhinged

A man jumped on the subway tracks, Delaying every train. He paced and shouted; people asked him What he hoped to gain. He ranted incoherently Yet strangers offered aid, Despite the fact that they’d be late For plans they might have made. As minutes passed, nobody Could convince him he should stop, But he climbed up at last Where he was handcuffed by a cop. Reporters called the man “unhinged,” As good a word as any, For lately, that description Might apply to far too many.

Excellently told in excellent rhyme, Ilene. Been on a few delayed trains for this reason.. it’s always called ‘an incident’. Terry

Excellent poem! I daily see "unhinged" people interrupting traffic in Waikiki and Honolulu! Milton believes they need psychiatric care; whatever their needs might be, society needs them off the streets! Well said, Ilene! Aloha!

'Unhinged,' eh?! The question is from what? From a door?! Throw the fellow in the slammer and keep him there. He's a public nuisance. Next time will be far worse, if he gets away with this stunt.

You're probably right, gw, but I'd suggest a mental hospital first. He seems to have some deep-rooted issues that need to be addressed before he should be allowed out among the public.

Indeed, Ilene. Amazing the number of "unhinged" people in this country. I just hope I'm not one of them. (chuckling)

Milt, you are definitely not unhinged. The guy in ilene's poem is, and he deserves to get as good as he gave, methinks. He held up a whole train of people. What'll he do next time if he doesn't do time this time?
