Under September Skies

One night all alone in the garden Under September skies; The moon was gone but the starlight shone And glowed like your beautiful eyes. Away from the shimmer and lamplight I stood so lonely there; While the noise of the throng was loud in song And floated on the air. You looked down through the starlight And I looked up at you; A memory came that I could not name A feeling unknown and new. We were lovers for a short time only So why should I feel such pain? To know you would go where tomorrow Would not bring you to me again. The time that flies fast between us Can never be captured I know; For hours now sleep and eyes now weep As the turmoil spins below. But I know that I shall remember Though I will try my best to forget; How I looked in your eyes under September skies After the moon had set

Simply lovely! Again, exquisite rhyming, cadence and imagery. Your final two lines draw it all together. :) x

Reading your September Poem on the last day of September has left me in a mood of melancholy. It was pleasure reading this lovely sad note, as often the most desired pleasure come from understanding the pains of others. Excellent write my friend conveying the feelings of what we call ‘Viyog’ in Hindi and thank you for your kind and precious comments which you have left on 'Radha's Love Song 2'. Love and best wishes always...Ravindra..... elizabeth wesley

A most perfect flow to this, and the capturing of emotion you do so well is exemplified in this poem. Melancholy notes and a painful questioning. Do not fret about those bears, if anything and it came to it, I'd give him a fair shot and use my bare hands :P. Bravo on this one though!

You've written this one better than Shakespeare! Sadly true, the feelings of a weeping heart have been expressed with such ease here. The flow is perfect, as always is with your poetry, dear Liz.

It took you a verse to get going. After that, you really were flowing. It's always amazing when you get to phrasing. And wrap it all up in the end. After the fall harvest moon had set. Please forgive me for being forward. I think the last line needed something. We all tend to want to just wrap things up at the end. Then again, maybe you don't agree with my little edit. hhhhh!! :)

What a sad love poem, it tugged at my heart and left me weeping to see a September sky! Wonderfully written Lizzie and the line, "Though I will try my best to forget;" is such a powerful line...and so true!! Too bad this isn't for any contest, or is it? because you would win hands down!!

Very powerful especially how it ends emphasized with the meter [But I know that I shall remember/ Though I will try my best to forget;] Light & Love
