grace to souls you'll never see the tangled hell inside of me for bleak the lilt belies a voice that which comes without a choice halt to deem the row inside such anguished awe a smile can hide. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "End July Premiere Poetry Contest", Brian Strand, Sponsor.

Thank you, Susan, I very much appreciate your comment ... a win for the "Dark" genre, which is a bit unusual, but demonstrates Brian's appreciation for ALL poetry ... dark poetry is, for me, victory over those things that can pull us down - turning the negative into something beautiful - and I find it very cathartic. Thanks again!

How difficult the task to hide sadness behind a smile. Your writes are always well done, Greg.

Thank you so much, Lin - I'm glad this touched you in some way. The dark pieces for me are about healing for the most part - going to a place of pain and turning that into something beautiful, or something that affects others. To change that darkness to art is a victory and a purge of sorts, and very cathartic for me. I wish others saw more beauty in it that way ...
